Winter Heating Bills Forecasted to Increase Compared to Last Year, Remain Lower Than Recent Peak in 2022

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) LCC announced today that natural gas residential customers can expect an increase in their winter heating bills this season compared to last year. Based on current market projections and assuming normal winter weather, bills for natural gas residential customers are estimated to be 15 percent higher in contrast to cost at this same period in 2023, and 17 percent lower compared to the recent peak experienced in 2022.

NIPSCO and NiSource Charitable Foundation Launch Bridging Our Energy Grant

Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO), in partnership with its parent company’s NiSource Charitable Foundation, is proud to announce the launch of the Bridging Our Energy Grant, a bi-annual endowment supporting two qualifying northern Indiana non-profit organizations. This new $200,000 grant will be divided into two annual installments of $50,000 for each organization in 2024 and 2025, funding strategic initiatives focused on diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and economic inclusion programs.

NIPSCO Proposes New Electric Rates to Support Sustainable Energy Investments, Infrastructure Modernization and Safety Improvements

Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO), a subsidiary of NiSource Inc. (NYSE: NI), has made a request with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to adjust its electric rates. Continued investments in renewable energy largely drive the request to support the company’s ongoing electric generation transition, along with infrastructure upgrades to provide enhanced safety and reliability. As demonstrated by the company’s Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process in 2018 and 2021, making these investments now is the most cost-effective approach for customers over the long term.

Aug. 11 is almost here, and NIPSCO hopes that the 8/11 date on the calendar will serve as a natural reminder for everyone to contact 811 prior to any digging project to have underground utility lines marked. Every few minutes an underground utility line is damaged because someone decided to dig without first contacting 811.

Newly Approved NIPSCO Gas Rates to Take Effect Beginning August 2024

Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO) received a decision from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to adjust its gas rates, effective August 2024. Beginning in August, the newly approved rates will be phased in over two steps to spread out the changes to customers, with the remaining changes applied in 2025.

Survey reveals 56 percent of homeowners plan to dig without contacting 811 first, risking disruption to critical utility services

In observance of National Safe Digging Month in April, NIPSCO today shared results from a recent national survey of 1,000 U.S. homeowners revealing that more than half (51 percent) plan to complete an outdoor do-it-yourself project that involves digging in the next year. However, over half (56 percent) of those planning projects do not intend to notify 811 ahead of time, putting themselves and their communities at risk.
