NIPSCO New Business is here to partner with you on your utility needs. We will work with you on planning the electric and gas service to the subdivision or home that you are building. Complete the Builder request form or Developer request form to start the process.
You can also call 1-844-809-8921 to discuss your energy needs with a New Business Agent.
We have updated our Site Readiness Policy to reflect the need for builders to backfill with sand and properly compact the backfill material where our gas meter will be located. Without proper backfill and compaction performed by the builder, the soil will descend along with the gas meter set, creating an unsafe condition. If our gas meter set has altered from its original position as a result of soil settlement, our Operations teams will have to correct the situation and ultimately charge the builder for this work.

To minimize site readiness issues that delay installation of facilities, a New Business Representative may request photos of your construction site to confirm the site is properly prepared for installation of gas and/or electric facilities. New Construction customers building in subdivisions may be asked to send a photo of the proposed service path viewed from the road to the metering location, and a separate photo standing in front of the metering location at approximately 10 feet away to their New Business Representative managing their project. This will allow order processing to be streamlined and eliminate unnecessary delays associated with site issues including material obstructions and grade. These photos will reduce delays, shorten order release times and reduce return site visits due to unprepared sites. If you have any questions, please call 1-844-809-8921 to leave a voicemail with your name, contact information and brief description of your inquiry.
