1. Project Eligibility: Offer is valid for Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC (NIPSCO) residential natural gas customers with active service (limited to residential rates 311, 315 and 351 or subsequent rates), and/or residential electric customers with active service (limited to residential rate 511 or a subsequent rate), depending on the rebate being requested. Rebates under the NIPSCO Midstream Channel are available to Distributors for qualifying equipment installed in qualifying residential existing and new properties. The Midstream Program is a sub-program of the Home Rebates Program and is intended to incentivize equipment at the point of purchase by the Contractor so those savings can be passed down to the customer during home install without the customer needing to submit a rebate application. TRC, Inc. is NIPSCO’s third-party implementation specialist that administers NIPSCO’s Residential Energy Efficiency Programs.
2. Equipment Eligibility: For a current list of qualifying equipment call TRC at 1-800-721-7385. Resale/used/refurbished/certified new equipment, new parts installed in existing equipment, or equipment that is leased, rebuilt, rented, received from insurance claims, received from a warranty, funded by a third-party organization (at a reduced or no cost to the Distributor/property owner) or won as a prize do not qualify. Equipment must be installed conforming to all applicable (e.g., building, gas, electrical, plumbing, etc.) local, state, and federal codes, standards, ordinances and regulations, and manufacturer’s specifications. Equipment must be installed by the Contractor listed on the Midstream Application submitted by the participating Distributor. Equipment purchased through NIPSCO’s Online Marketplace, Retail Products or Midstream Channel are not eligible for a NIPSCO Energy Efficiency Rebate.
3. Distributor Discount: The Distributor will offer these equipment discounts at point of sale to the Contractor. The Distributor invoice must clearly itemize the amount of the discount provided at the point of sale to the Contractor. The discount can be listed in the total summary section of the invoice. The Distributor may hold back up to a $50.00 processing fee per application from the total NIPSCO incentive. The Distributor agrees that the Program is intended to provide incentives on qualifying equipment sold to Contractors. Incentives delivered by the Distributor for equipment sold to parties including commercial and non-NIPSCO Customers or Contractors using/installing equipment not in accordance with the Program or this application, will not be reimbursed by TRC or NIPSCO. The Distributor must notify the Contractor at the time of sale that equipment pricing was subsidized by Program incentives and Distributor must display a line item on the Contractor invoice specifically stating that funds were provided by NIPSCO. The Distributor must notify the Contractor at the time of sale that; (i) the Contractor is required to pass the same discount, in full, down to the NIPSCO Residential account holder;(ii) the discount from the Contractor to the customer must be clearly stated on the customer invoice. As part of quality assurance, end customers may be contacted to verify that the equipment was installed and that the proper discount was received. Contractors that do not fulfill this obligation will be subject to removal from the Program. Distributors are not responsible for the Contractor’s obligation to inform the customer of the incentive. By the Contractor providing the customer account information, this is deemed as acknowledgement that communication took place and that the customer is aware of the NIPSCO incentive and the customer was provided the total NIPSCO incentive received at time of purchase of the equipment from the Distributor. Under the Program, the Distributor will not be eligible to receive a rebate for discounts provided to an organization that is funding equipment and/or materials in a customer’s home (gift or donation to the customer).
