Upgrade your space and get incentives
The Custom Incentive Program is designed for projects that do not fall under the Prescriptive Incentive Program. Agricultural, large commercial, governmental, industrial, institutional and non-profit customers can earn incentives for improving performance and installing new energy-saving equipment or by optimizing building or industrial systems with retro-commissioning (RCx) processes. Pre-approval is required for all incentives before any equipment is purchased or installed.
All projects must be completed by November 16, 2024 to be eligible for current 2024 incentives. Projects submitted after this date are subject to 2025 incentives and requirements.
Incentives are calculated based on how much you’ll save in kilowatt hours (kWh) and/or therms.
- $0.10/kWh for electric lighting projects
- $0.12/kWh for electric non-lighting projects
- $1.00/therm for natural gas projects
Visit the Retro-Commissioning Incentive webpage for more information about RCx and the Study incentives.
What type of projects qualify?
Eligible projects may consist of the retrofit or replacement of existing equipment/systems that result in energy savings through incentives. This can include, but is not limited to, agriculture, lighting, HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, food service, motors, data centers and IT system projects. Retro-commissioning projects may also qualify for incentives through this program.
Retro-Commissioning is the systematic process by which building systems or industrial systems are optimized to meet existing operational needs. The RCx incentive is designed to help qualified NIPSCO Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers determine the energy performance of their facilities and identify energy-saving opportunities by optimizing their existing systems. Learn more about the types of RCx, popular upgrades, how to participate, eligibility and incentive rates.
